Lava Mobiles has introduced its brand new smartphone Iris 504Q. This smartphone comes with gesture controls feature and will be available in the market starting last week of June for Rs. 13,499. Lava Iris 504Q sports a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The smartphone packs in 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone packs in 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 32GB via microSD card. Lava Iris 504Q runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

For camera, there is an 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with BSI sensor. The smartphone also has 2-megapixel front snapper on-board and is powered by a 2000mAh battery. The gesture motion feature on the Lava Iris 504Q allows users to interact with the phone with just a swipe of the hand in the air. The gesture control feature can be used for clicking photos, changing tracks on the music player and video player, tuning FM channels and browsing entertainment gallery on the smartphone.

The USP of the phone is the gesture sensor, and in the little time we had with the phone, it looked like Lava has done a nice job with the gesture-based controls which can be operated without tapping on the display of the phone. The gesture controls are applicable on various features like clicking photos and checking them in the gallery, browse through the music player – for switching tracks and for changing videos, and for changing the FM channels. You simply need to move your hand in to and fro motion on the front of the screen. The camera of the phone will then understand your gestures and thus guide the related features to operate accordingly. On trying it, the gesture-motion while changing images in the gallery worked smoothly most of the times, though there were instances when we would instruct it multiple times to operate; this could possibly be due to the position of hand or the lighting conditions as the camera did not recognize our actions.
